The JourneyDO SOMETHING: THE BITING DROUGHT

January 17, 201715

The images are always haunting. A mother trying to feed her young one the little she can. His body fragile, ribs bursting out of his young skin, crying to be fed. Dried plains, hopeless faces.

Many others struggle in the dusty wind, trying to move, fend for themselves. They are mothers, they are children…they are fathers and uncles. It irks and pains me that year in year out, millions of Kenyans suffer as drought sweeps in relentlessly.

The ongoing Kenya drought has affected 1.3 million Kenyans. In addition, 1.1 million people are expected to live on a hungry stomach by April 2017.

Eight counties are at an alarm stage, namely: Garissa, Lamu, Kilifi, Kwale, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu and Tana River. We may feel helpless to it all but there’s something we can do, in our own little way, to help our brothers and sisters who are being greatly affected by the drought countrywide.

Support the Kenya Red Cross Society and help reach fellow Kenyans in dire need of our help. Send any amount to:

Kenya Red Cross Society M-PESA Pay Bill Number: 10000

Account Name: Drought.

Your kind support will be used to support families worst affected through provision of cash transfers for them to meet immediate food, non-food, and income needs;nutrition support; livestock destocking; and ensuring access to safe water. Do something.

nice job if you can remember back in 2012 we held kenyans for kenya event where many kenyans came in to help each other instead of our brothers from marsabit and other hunger striken part of the country being news makers on headlines why cant we privileged to have something to bite be the news makers by helping them out. thanks janet for being the voice to the unprivileged your granary will never lack coz someone most high up there will always watch over it for u.

I try my dear. Sometimes we feel helpless but knowing what the issue is can inspire someone to take action in some way. Thanks for your comment and God bless ❤
