I’ve chosen to surrender my fears and lie in wait for the next great chapter in my life. All the worry, anxiety and over-thinking caught up with me. Now seems like the best to to take in everything around me; sights, smells, sounds…sigh…the beauty of it all. I’m appreciating what I’ve often ignored. I’m smelling the roses.
Here’s 3 reasons why I’m choosing to do that this time round:
1. I’m beginning to find peace
This is not to say that I don’t wake up conflicted every so often, like many of us do. But the calm that I’m learning to carry in me through the day means I’m less inclined to lose my mind over everything. Unless it’s alarming, I’m practicing the art of breathing easy and dealing with things one situation at a time.
2. Bonding more with loved ones
Slowing down and living in the moment, means I’m able to learn more about the most important people in my life. It’s so easy to get caught up in the rat race but then you realize your children are growing up so fast, your parents and grandparents are aging and your partner or spouse has new interests. Take a moment. Reconnect. Deal with a reality you may not want to but that you may regret not having done when you were able to.
3. Recharging from work and life
I’m taking a breather and releasing it so that I can enjoy myself. I hadn’t done so in 10 years in caught up with me in a big way. Somehow I feel like I’ll get back into the swing of things with renewed vigor.
What matters most to me right now is not the amount of buzz surrounding my life; it’s the quality of the life that I want to live and the people that I want involved in my journey.

At the end of the day, it’s the fundamentals that matter…. Your peace of mind and your loved ones.
