I was sitting in a holding room at a Plaza, waiting to see my Doctor so that he could advise me on what the next nine months in my life would look like. I had just found out I was pregnant! I was giddy, overwhelmed, flustered. I could not stop grinning. I thought this would be me sometime in 2016, but as the saying goes, life is what happens when you are making other plans.

As I waited for the Doctor to read me my full test results, it dawned on me that the last eight years of my life have been such a roller coaster. Getting into media, working in Kenya then South Africa, moving back home, starting a Business, then a Foundation, reconnecting with someone who would later become my husband…a LOT! I was on a full on journey and just could not predict what the next few weeks, let alone months, would look like. I decided then and there that I was going to embark on something I had been holding off on doing for years…starting a Blog!

I have always been super guarded, that is just my nature. But I have decided to lift the lid on my fears, my aspirations, my passion, my life. By sharing my story, I hope I can empower someone out there to dream, to dare to be different and to embrace life's ups and downs, because they will always be there! One's journey is always their destination…I have no idea where it will lead me next. I have made my plans but I am leaving it all in God's hands, because He has His own plans for me.

Janet's Thoughts will offer you an insight into what I am thinking, whether it is my views on a topical issue or some of my poetry and prose or maybe just my thoughts that day.

Inua Dada will showcase the work my Foundation is doing to empower and uplift the lives of girls and children in Kenya.

My videos will chronicle the different projects I have embarked on and continue to pursue.

So thank you for being here and reading my blog! Please interact with me and let me know what's on your mind as well. Let's do this!

Hi, m an upcoming journalist, m young, m 20 n m graduating this year in November yeaaaah. Am happy actually. For me your story will serve as a cushion for my life. I look up to u guyz n everyday am on IG @kahonzi_ / Juney Karisa i see a note of motivation and m like God if Janet made it then i will reach apo. I love her dress, her make up, her bold nature and Lord my story of life may be different from hers but one thing we have in common is she trusts u n thats enough reason for me to trust u. Her testimony will keep me moving. And for us ts a dream, an impetus to reach wea u are and beyond. Actually I am the daughter of a former minister, a late one but one thing i insist on doing is living my story. Am glad that it will take a year for people to knw this but i want to show the world that i too can make my own brand. I am among a group of 5 girls from my high school who joined University. Natoka coast so its all marriage n babies. Wakikuona unasoma they b like why u trying so hard na unaeza kuolewa. June ur 20 na una degree na unangangana tu kuendelea. I believe God created me for a bigger purpose not just marriage n kids. My story, my testimony lazma ifikie watu. So i joined KBC for my attachment yeah, (hope m not boring woi) n mum wasnt sure cz nlikua KBC msa n life wasnt moving. I cme to Nairobi requesting for a transfer then wako like noo hatuezi n i wasnt ready to go back hme undifitee. I walkd into the editor in chief’s office, Mr. Maina, na nkam assure ad b an asset n he gave me 2weeks to prove this. N in less than a month i did 2 feature stories mostlycku empower girls in university. Am a founder of JKUAT female association so am a feminist kinda. N he was pleased but hakunisho. By the end of my 3 months i had dne 6 feature stories n pple were reacting to them. I knew God was on my side. So the MD akani request nibaki. I was retained n i got to cover major stories n i was grateful. I culdnt get employed tho ju sna papers n nw wanani frustrate i ges its life. My piont tho u n other anchors n reporters make me see the light as n. Unakua frustrated at work n it hits like kwani hw did Janet make it. Myb walilia but wali press on. Press on. I bless God for u n for providing such a platform i mean i think u can talk to us n motivate us. Like sai i quit Kbc cz of them lying n using me but smth av never told anyone s i was raped by an anchor apo n being n the same newsroom wth this person is traumatizing. I break dwn everyday n akuna kitu naeza fanya. No one understands y i left but ii burden i cnt do it. At wat cost… I love wat i do n al keep duin it just not wth him around. Nmeongea sana. I dnt knw ka utaeza soma but plz never stop innuaring ata sisi… Love u Janet

I find it that a million times imperfect…..Am 23year and still trying to make it through school… but if someone asked me. .. I should be somewhere working” an experienced professional woman with a business making its way into the entrepreneurship world” but What am I. .a lady that completed her diploma, No work No Money and still wanna get back to school for my degree and laters my Masters. Am hoping for the best. u inspire me a lot dear. ..Getting married in your 30s is more that what I have wanted. Many in this generation are starting their families at 18,19,20,21etc. …My Role Model. .. u have done it. .. your time has come to start a family. .. 2015 is not too late nor could 2016 be the appropriate year for u to start a family of your own. The write time is now. .I wish u always shoot to the tv screen how proud I am to see u do a live broadcast while pregnant. .. it takes courage. ..again and again. .I say am so proud to have a Role Model like Janet Mbugua -Ndichu.Mob love Janet. .. all I wish is hope it’s not too late to accomplish all u have done by the age of 40 coz I can’t make it before 30.

You are deep Janet. I kind of understand you because I am a lot like you. guarding everything we feel, fear so
jealously. It’s a bold step to come out of that confinement. you will feel pain as some attack what you have held most sacred and personal. Along with that pain however, will be a woman who will pick a sentence from this blog to find her esteem, to pick herself up, to find love. … Good luck

This is awesome, this is great.

    Why?

I can see young people sharing stories on the same blog as comments that are inspiring too!

You are selfless and amazing Janet!

     God bless you!

Thanks Janet for your blog. It encourages that no one is perfect we are just striving to get better. I recently turned 28 and it dawned to me that i am just existing so i made up my mind to wake up and am working on finding myself a day at a time thats what i am doing.

    Hi Janet,

I think this is the right track on your journey(Starting a blog). The thoughts shared are deep, true and awesome reminds me of Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat pray and Love). I was hungry for more while I read through 'My journey down the aisle' , I want to know the real journey slightly away from the procedures(Which I appreciate),not for a juicy gossip but I want to know your real experience in that journey (What you feel comfortable sharing and when you feel okay sharing).

Hi Grace, I remember how much I loved reading 'Eat, Pray, Love'. Great book! In time I'll be able to share more intimate tidbits into my wedding day but for now, this is what I felt was important to share. Thank you for your feedback though!
