It has always been a dream of mine to see women succeed and this can only be achieved when we as a Global Community invest in empowering our girls and advocating for the protection of their rights.

In August 2013, Kenyans watched an emotive feature called Period of Shame on Citizen Television. The Feature highlighted the plight of School Girls who miss many days of learning every month whenever they are on their Period and also result to using rags, chicken feathers and other harmful materials because they have no access to sanitary towels.

Public outcry following the Feature was immediate – something urgent needed to be done to assist the Girls.

As a result I founded Inua Dada in October, 2013 to not only address the issue of lack of Sanitary Towels but also other barriers like Child Marriage that hinder Girls from attending and completing school.

Endorsed by the First Lady of Kenya, Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta, Inua Dada which is a National Foundation Trust registered in Kenya, works collaboratively with Partners to influence Policy as well as advocate for the Protection of Rights of the Girl Child.

Inua Dada envisions a Global Community that Empowers, Uplifts and Protects The Rights of Every Girl Child.

At Inua Dada we believe that Every Girl Matters and that Together we can work to ensure that not only Girls but all Children are having their basic needs fulfilled (access to education, adequate health care, food, clothing, shelter and a basic standard of living) so that they can be able to focus on learning and have an opportunity to enjoy their childhood.

Your work is amazing Janet, after you started the Inua Dada Foundation you also enlightened some young people to start similar thing to empower the girl child. It’s upto to all of us to uplift the girl child and help them know their value in the society and that they shouldn’t give up on their dreams just because they’re girls and they think boys are better they ought to know everyday that they’re equally as good as the boys.
I love your work and my team Minawe Initiative we’re looking forward to work with you to uplift/encourage the girl child ? instagram @minawe_initiative facebook Minawe Initiative
